Ghosts Of York. Rob Kirkup

Hmmmmm… This review is a bit of a difficult one for me.

Although we both claim to be paranormal investigators, Rob Kirkup and I clearly have very little in common regarding investigative procedure – Of course I’m not saying that Rob and his team arent doing it right, he claims to achieve results which is great and obviously makes him very happy. I just kinda like a more scientific approach, which gets less results, but the results if achieved are verifiable…

Thats not to say I didnt enjoy his book. Having lived in York myself previously, some of the locations Rob covered brought back memories for me. Others.. well, they came as a bit of a shock to be honest – Hey, I’ve never claimed I know every allegedly paranormal case in York.

So, last weekend saw me curling up in front of a log fire with the dog and this book… and I have to admit, I really enjoyed reading it.
Robs style tends to ramble a little at times, though not in a bad way. Kind of like one of those conversations you have in a pub about the local spooky stories, you know the ones where the person telling the tale relates it in such intricate detail you are left wondering just how they remember it all?

So, for an enjoyable read for a rainy weekend, Robs book is a winner. As a manual on how to investigate the paranormal?
Thats not for me to say.
