Tourists are banned and it’s said to be the most haunted location in the world; the island of Poveglia is only minutes from where the glittering Venice Film Festival takes place each year, but couldn’t be more different. And now it is about to get a new owner. In an effort to pay off public debt, the Italian government is putting Poveglia up for auction – expecting to exchange for millions of pounds.
