Swedes open coffin of 850-year-old king

“Wrapped in beautiful linen cloth it is revealed, the skull well-preserved,” wrote Upsala Nya Tidning’s reporter Susanne Sigroth-Lambe, who was running a live update from the exhumation.The last time the king’s remains were examined was in 2000, but scientists chose not to run any tests at the time. Osteo-archaeologist Sabine Sten was on hand on Wednesday to explain what they hoped to achieve by examining the bones.
