After recently watching World War Z and reading the Otto Penzler edited anthology Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! it has never been clearer to me that today’s concept of “Zombie,” aside from being dead, smelly and mobile, has very little in common with the Zombie of folklore.This didn’t happen overnight though. The Zombie, as a figure and concept, has been constantly evolving since it first entered the public’s consciousness over 85 years ago.
