As summer settles in across Britain (at last!), the strange and unexplained continue to make headlines. Crop circle season is gathering pace in Wiltshire, UFO researchers are once again calling for greater government transparency, and reports of unusual creatures and strange lights continue to filter in from around the world. Whether you favour extraterrestrials, cryptids, folklore or good old-fashioned Fortean weirdness, there has been plenty to keep an eye on this week.

The biggest British UFO story comes from Scotland, where veteran researchers Ron Halliday and Malcolm Robinson have renewed calls for the government to release what they describe as the remaining “Scots X-Files”.

The pair are currently examining thousands of reports linked to the famous Bonnybridge UFO flap and are petitioning for greater public access to official records. Bonnybridge has long been regarded as one of Britain’s most prolific UFO hotspots, with witnesses reporting everything from glowing spheres to classic saucer and triangular-shaped craft over several decades.

While many sightings eventually receive mundane explanations, the researchers argue that a small but persistent percentage remain unexplained. (The Scottish Sun)

Meanwhile, the 2026 crop circle season continues to develop across southern England.

New formations have been reported in Wiltshire, particularly around the Avebury and White Sheet Downs areas.

As always, debate rages between those who see the formations as elaborate human artworks and those who believe something more mysterious may be involved. Whatever their origin, the circles continue to attract visitors, photographers and researchers from around the world. Several new formations have appeared since late spring, making 2026 one of the busier recent seasons so far. (Instagram)

In disclosure news, researchers continue analysing recently released American UAP documentation. The files reportedly contain accounts of unusual aerial objects observed by military personnel and civilians, including descriptions of glowing orbs, discs and other anomalous phenomena.

While no smoking gun has emerged, the continuing release of documents ensures that the debate surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena remains firmly in the public eye. (Mysterious Times)

Closer to home, reports of British big cats continue to surface. While none have yet provided definitive proof of a breeding population, witness reports remain surprisingly consistent. Large black feline shapes have been reported from rural areas of Devon, Gloucestershire and the Welsh borders during recent weeks. As ever, photographs remain frustratingly elusive, but the Alien Big Cat mystery shows no sign of disappearing from the British landscape.

In the paranormal world, investigators are reporting increased public interest in haunted locations as summer events and ghost hunts return across the UK. Historic properties, former prisons and abandoned hospitals continue to attract visitors seeking evidence of life after death. While sceptics remain unconvinced, the appetite for ghost hunting appears stronger than ever.

Perhaps most intriguingly, folklore researchers have noted the annual resurgence of old midsummer traditions as the Solstice approaches. Across Britain, people are once again gathering at ancient sites, lighting ceremonial fires and reviving customs that stretch back centuries. Whether viewed as living folklore, spiritual practice or cultural heritage, these traditions remind us that mystery is not always something hidden in the sky. Sometimes it survives quietly in the stories and rituals handed down through generations.

As always, if you’ve seen a strange light, encountered an unusual creature, discovered a crop circle, or found yourself chased across a Derbyshire hillside by what turned out to be an exceptionally large sheep, we’d love to hear from you.

Stay curious.
