  • 1947: The “Roswell Incident” took place in July, when an unidentified object crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. The US military initially announced it was a “flying disc” but later claimed it was a weather balloon, sparking decades of speculation and conspiracy theories.

1950s:

  • 1952: The “Washington, D.C. UFO Incident” involved multiple sightings of unidentified objects over the nation’s capital in July. Radar operators tracked unusual targets, and military jets were scrambled to investigate, but no satisfactory explanation was ever provided.
  • 1957: The “Levelland UFO Case” occurred in November, when multiple witnesses reported seeing strange lights and encountering electrical disturbances near Levelland, Texas. Some witnesses claimed their vehicles stalled when they encountered the UFO.

1960s:

  • 1961: The “Betty and Barney Hill Abduction” is one of the first reported cases of alien abduction. Betty and Barney Hill claimed to have been taken aboard a UFO while driving through rural New Hampshire in September 1961.
