Mostly though, they are not!Some are ideas that have been passed on ‘from a friend’, or ‘overheard in a pub’, whilst some were probably started as a joke, or a jibe at the person concerned. No matter how it started, once a good rumour gains momentum, it can very quickly become a main feature in the News media of the day, or add another footnote in the life-story of a place or person.
